XVII Edition of the safest cycling march in Spain

This year the Quebrantahuesos, the largest cyclo sportive event in Spain, has become the safest cycling march in Spain because the number of participants have been limited to 7.500 clyclists and to 1.500 participants for the Treparriscos.

Next 23th of June will take place once again in Sabiñánigo the great celebration of the cycling event Quebrantahuesos, a very well-known sport appointment that extends itself to become a social event.
According to the suggestions of the french authorities this year the number of participants have been limited to assure a high safety level of the competition. As the route goes though very narrow and bent roads the organization, Peña Ciclista Edelweiss decided to control the number of participants.

The start and finish is held in the town of Sabiñanigo in the Spanish Pyrenees and the route is a classic Pyrenean mountain stage. The 205km route starts from Sabiñanigo and climbs the Col du Somport (1,640mt) and crosses the border into France where it climbs the steep Col du Marie Blanque (featured Etape du Tour 2005) before returning to Spain via the Col du Portalet (1,795mt) to finish back in Sabiñanigo.

At the same time, the cyclists who don't want to take part in a so long competition, they have the opportunity to participate in another smaller route called Treparriscos of 90km. The start and finish will be also held in Sabiñanigo but they will have to take a different route: Sabiñánigo – Biescas – Sallent de Gallego – Formigal – Sandinies – Tramacastilla – Sabiñánigo.

As innovation of this year a wide program of touristic and social events have been organized for the families and friends of the cyclists. They will be able to spend an enjoyable day with different kind of sport and cultural activities as well as touristics excursions related to relax as for exemple spa circuits.
