COLLOQUIAL EXPRESSIONS
WITH the VERB SER
In Spanish are used many
colloquial expressions with the verb SER. Choose the right
option according to the right meaning.

Ser la pera / la repera: a.- To be able to keep a secret. b.- To
bring bad luck. c.- Of the bad appearance or doubtful moral look if
it refers to persons. Of bad quality for things.
2)
Ser un hortera: a.- To be vulgar, ordinary, of badly taste, specially
in dressing. b.- To be little intelligent, of little talent. c.- To
be homosexual.
3)
Ser el ojito derecho de alguien: a.- A very intelligent person. b.-
To be not very intelligent, of little talent. c.- To be the favorite
person of another one.
4)
Ser de la acera de enfrente: a.- To be homosexual. b.- To have a
strange character, very introverted. c.- To be very obstinate, very
difficult to convince.
5)
Ser un coco: a.- A very intelligent person. . b.- To be able to keep
a secret. c.- To have a strange character, very introverted.
6)
Ser algo pecata minuta: a.- To bring bad luck. b.- To be a minor
mistake, of little importance. c.- To be not very intelligent, of
little talent.

Ser una tumba: a.- To be vulgar, ordinary, of badly taste, specially
in dressing. b.- To bring bad luck. c.- To be able to keep a secret.

Ser alguien duro de mollera: a.- To be the favorite person of another
one. b.- To be very obstinate, very difficult to convince. c.- Of the
bad appearance or doubtful moral look if it refers to persons. Of bad
quality for things.
