The Aspe (Bearn) and Canfranc (the Jacetania) valleys, in the middle of the Pyrenees celebrate this weekend the second International Hiking Festival “El Dorado”. The sport competition is being celebrated in the French localities of Lescún and Accous, but the stage of Canfranc (Spain) will be very important as well for its development, since great part of the lodged participants will spend the night there. Throughout the four days, it is estimated that a total of 50,000 participants will take part in the event.

“El Dorado” was created the last year to gather all the hiking lover in the great spaces surrounded by high mountains like here in the middle of the Pyrenees. That's why this year will set up a big showground, where all the aspects related to the hiking and climbing practice are going to be contemplated, from sport material stands, to publications and tour operators, without forgetting the most theoretical spaces, in which it is reflected and analyzed all about this sector, or another ones more practical, as the routes and walkings offer in the valley of the festival.

Altogether, there will be 20 free excursions, in which hikers will take the itinerary marked in a card, without technical support, 15 guided routes, several interpretatives footpaths - one around the handicapped Fort of Portalet- and some other routes for handicapped. All of them are free and everbody can participate, although it will be necessary a previous registration for the guided routes. In addition, those who spend the night in the Spanish site will be able to enjoy, nearly without moving, of beautiful routes starting in Canfranc. And the arrival to the Aspe valley will be facilitated by a daily bus service.

The start will be at 9h. of 25 May at the Information Office in Canfranc. All the excursions are free but it's necessary to enroll at the information stands of Canfranc, Aspe&Canfranc in Accous. Limited places.
