SPAIN, GUEST OF HONOR AT EXPOLINGUA 2006

Spain has been the gues of honor of the 19th international fair for language and cultures which took place in Berlin from 17th till 19th November.

More than twenty Spanish exhibitors will be represented, including language schools, culture institutes, language travel organisers and tourism agencies. The seminar programme that accompanies the fair will give visitors the opportunity to become acquainted with Spain through lectures and presentations. Furthermore, Spain will be a focus of the fair's cultural programme.

Speakin Spanish creates mobility: a person who can speak fluently Spanish can communicate with more than 420 million people worldwide. “Language Advance Mobility” is also the motto of this year's Expolingua Berlin, and with this slogan, the fair is supporting the “European Year of Employee Mobility” that has been proclaimed by the European Commission.

“Learning Spanish moves you ahead: the language is really in trend”, explains Silke Lieber, project head of Expolingua Berlin. “Spain's being named this year's guest of honor recognizes the great interest in Spain and Spanish as a foreign language”. The country's fantastic variety will receive particular attention, and fairgoers can become acquainted with the Castilian, Catalonian, Aragon, Galician and Basque regions, as weel as many others.

The main goal of Expolingua Berlin is to offer an overview of the numerous possibilities to learn and teach foreign languages. More than 150 exhibitors from more than 20 different countries presented their products and services. Expert speakers provided information about internships, exchange programmes and study opportunities abroad. In addition, mini-language courses were offered and language tests introduced.
