PYRENEES AND GALICIA
LEARN SPANISH + MOUNTAIN AND SEA

This is the first programme prepared for discovering two different areas from north Spain distinguished by mountains and see. It is perfect for schools' groups or adults who want to learn Spanish in two regions which are connected by the Pilgrim Way.

Jaca (Pyrenees) as well as Porriño (Galicia) are both medium cities with about 15000 inhabitants. This size facilities to get in contact quite fast with local people and have under control your students. At the same time both cities offer the same services and facilities as in a big city.

Jaca is situated in northeastern Spain near the border with France, in the midst of the Pyrenees in the province of Huesca. Jaca, a ford on the Aragón River at the intersection of two great early medieval routes, one from Pau to Zaragoza, was the fortified city out of which the County and Kingdom of Aragon developed: it was the capital of Aragon until 1097. The city exhibits its medieval history with it's stone walls, buildings and cobblestone streets. The San Pedro Cathedral, one of the oldest in the Iberian peninsula (1170) is of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Spain . The surrounding mountains, covered with snow in winter and green pastures in the summer, provide a clear reflection of the extraordinary and unique landscape of the Pyrenees.
O Porriño is located in the area of Rias Baixas in Ponevedra (Galicia), in the metropolitan area of Vigo, of which it is an important economic dependency. One of its main industries is granite production. O Porriño's granite is worldwide known as Rosa Porriño (Pink Porriño) and is exported from the Port of Vigo mainly to Italy, Japan and China.
The Rias Baixas offer a privileged environment for the practice of the nautical sports and enjoy wonderful beaches and natural spaces.
From O Porriño came the architect Antonio Palacios, known for the use of granite in his work, such as the Telecommunications Palace in Madrid and the García Barbón Theater in Vigo.
